What are the Winter ’19 Release highlights?
While down-under we’re getting ready for a hot summer and the BBQ season, things are taking a cooler turn at Salesforce with the latest release around the corner. Brace yourself … Winter ‘19 is coming.
Put your scarf and hat on and let’s jump into our cool top five..
Our Top 5 updates:
- List View search and share function
- Display density settings
- Email bounce back alert and open date
- Schedule a series of Events
- Assign a new owner to multiple Leads, Cases, or custom objects
1. List View search and share function
Those of you who are regular readers of our ‘Top 5 Updates’ may have a little laugh at this one … Yes, it’s List Views at the number 1 spot once again. Now before you roll your eyes at my obsession with List Views, have a read of these cool new features:
When creating a new List View users previously had the option of sharing with all users or keeping it private. All or nothing. Not very helpful to those of you who manage teams, pipelines, territories etc. It’s now possible to share List Views with specific groups of users defined through roles, public groups or territories.
But that’s not all the fine folk at Salesforce have given us list view addicts… The new List View search bar will help you to find the information you need quickly and easily. Users now have the ability to drill down on records with common information or search for a specific record within a List View. Examples of key search criteria include Account Name, Opportunity Stage, or Billing Country.
2. Display density settings
This feature is not only for users but for admins as well. Do you secretly miss the Classic interface? It wasn’t pretty but it certainly displayed a lot of information on the page without the need to scroll. Salesforce have listened and have delivered the ability to switch between two display settings; ‘Comfy’ and ‘Compact’. Compact allows 30 per cent more field visibility on the same page so it’s perfect for admins working on page layouts or users who need to view records containing a lot of information.
For those of you who have poor eyesight like me, don’t forget your glasses.
3. Email bounce back alert & open date
Have you ever sent an email inside Salesforce and thought to yourself … did it go? Was the email address correct? Why haven’t they replied? Should I call them?
Salesforce email users will be happy to learn that email bounce backs are now flagged immediately: when you attempt to send an email to an invalid address an alert icon is displayed next to the email field on Lead, Contact and Person Account records. With this new feature you can now be sure that your email was delivered.
You’re now confident that that the email was delivered, but has it been opened and when?
Email activity now shows ‘First Opened’ and ‘Last Opened’, date and time in the activity timeline. A very useful feature indeed.
4. Schedule recurring Events
This feature, which is currently in Beta, gives you the ability to schedule recurring events on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. A real time-saver if you have regular catch ups or meetings that require scheduling, internally or externally. Set and forget … perfect!
5. Assign a new owner to multiple Leads, Cases or custom objects
Changing the owner on List Views has been extended to Leads, Cases and custom objects, making it quick and easy to update up to 200 selected records with a new owner at any one time. It’s great to see that this very useful feature, which was previously reserved for Opportunities, Accounts and Contacts, is now available for these objects.
