The month of July means a lot to us at Fullcrm — it’s when our consulting business was founded and this year it marks our 4th Birthday!
To celebrate we thought it was the perfect time to reflect on Fullcrm’s journey so far. We sat down with Helen Peterson, one of our Co-Founders, to discuss her takeouts over the last four years.
Share with us your top four learnings over this journey?
1. Work life balance is key.
Without the right mix of both, everything slowly begins to unravel for me. Left to my own devices I could just work, work, work but it isn’t healthy. So I make time to be with family and friends. Every Tuesday and Saturday I am coaching my 8yo daughter’s netball team, hoping they fall in love with the game and learn the importance of being a part of a team. Maintaining the right work life balance will always be a work in progress but a recent win for me was combining work and family on a recent trip to Sri Lanka.
2. Finding the right culture is so important.
When starting Fullcrm, one of the most important parts for me was getting the culture right. Peter and I believe that having an environment where everyone has the ability to be heard, not only creates a collaborative workplace but also makes sure people feel part of the business. We believe in enabling our team to be at their best and we instill our ethos that ‘there is no task is too big or too small for any person at Fullcrm’.
3. You must stay true to your values.
We started Fullcrm to help transform businesses using CRM. We recognise that each client will be at different stages in their journey. Some clients may need to be handheld and others have a very clear path on where their CRM will take them. We change our language and engagement to suit.
We also believe that CRM technology needs to be matched to the people, data and processes. With every project we have undertaken with our clients, we ensure our team understand their business and strategy first, and then align the CRM system to match.
4. Be resilient.
Setting up and running a business over the last four years has required tonnes of resilience from both Peter and me. The only way you truly learn is by making mistakes and learning from them. By dusting off and making required changes has helped us get to where we are today… this has included branding changes, updating our marketing strategies and refining our processes.
Come on Helen, we’re sure you’ve got more than four… Do you have anything else to add?
Yep. I’ve always got more… You need to have a sense of humour! Having the ability to laugh is something both Peter and I have in bucket loads and it means we enjoy coming to work. It has also come in handy particularly when my husband and Peter get together… they take pleasure in ganging up on me! And they’re very lucky I’ve got a good sense of humour and can laugh about it.
Any parting thoughts as you enter Fullcrm’s fifth year?
The last four years have been an incredibly exciting journey. Fullcrm has become like a 3rd child. As corny as it may sound, Peter and I have loved watching it grow, from just the two of us to a now team of 13 spanning Sydney, Colombo and Hong Kong. We’re excited to watch our customers continue to transform and our team to thrive and deliver even more successful solutions.
Thanks Helen!
